Alexa & Scott // Sunny San Diego Wedding

I’m so excited to be sharing my soulmate’s wedding… to her husband!!! :’)

After my initial call with Alexa last year, I knew that we were going to get on like a house on fire. Since connecting first via that call & after meeting for her engagement session, we’ve become incredibly close. Alexa is a sweet, hilarious, loyal, kind, fun-loving friend, and I really can’t imagine my life without her in it. Capturing her & her (OTHER) soulmate Scott’s wedding last summer (after 6-8 months of daily texts & convos about every detail) was soooo joyful and heart-filling, my face hurt from smiling the ENTIRE day.

A decade ago, Alexa & Scott met in high school, and were the best of friends. Since Alexa’s group of gal-pals and Scott’s group of buddies were always hanging out, the two spent oodles of time together. During their junior year, on a mission to break out of the friend-zone, Scott asked Alexa to prom, and she said yes. They had an amazing time, but proceeded to hover in between being friends & more-than-friends. Nevertheless, they stayed close and went to prom together once again when they were seniors! The dance fell at the end of the school year, and they were just months away from leaving town for college—Scott going to school in Baltimore, and Alexa heading south to Alabama. Poetically, Scott said he “had to let the bird fly,” and that if it were meant to be, Alexa would come back to him.

Well, we can now call this woman a beautiful pigeon (which is my actual nickname for her), because after graduating, the two both moved to Manhattan and reconnected… like no time had passed. They spent every weekend together going out, trying new restaurants, seeing shows, and falling in love.

In 2018, on a visit to San Diego, they went on a hike around Torrey Pines, and Alexa had a moment where she just knew Scott was the one. Scott had… already decided Alexa was his soulmate somewhere between prom 1 and prom 2. Later on, during the pandemic, the couple temporarily moved to San Diego—a dream Alexa envisioned her entire life. They’re still SoCal residents *for now* and it’s been so special getting to see them so often since we became good friends.

After meeting these two gems at their engagement session, Alexa & I probably talked almost every day about something or another. When their wedding day finally arrived, I was up at DAWN excited like a kid on Christmas (or what I imagine that’s like since.. Santa never came to my house.. as I am Jewish).

Alexa & Scott’s wedding day was EVERYTHING and more. I couldn’t dream up more perfect weather for this couple, more wonderful wedding parties to stand alongside them, more stoked family members to join & support them as they became husband & wife, a happier pup (who got to stop by for some pix!), a more bubbly + bouncing-with-excitement bride, or a more handsome & goofy groom. Their celebration was truly stunning, filled with SO MANY TEARS (@Alexa’s dad) (@Alexa’s Nonna) (@most of their guests) (@me), and SO MUCH HAPPINESS. The energy all day was simply electric, overflowing with warmth and puuuure love between these two and FOR these two from all of the guests in attendance.

From a jaw-dropping first look between Alexa + Scott to tear-filled first looks with the bride's dad & her grandma, the early afternoon was a non-stop delight. Later on, guests took their seats for a knee-slappingly funny and heartwarming ceremony officiated by both a Rabbi & a Priest (which DOES sound like the beginning of a joke). Watching Alexa’s BEAMING smile as she walked down the aisle with her dad, I glanced to my left and saw her Nonna just sobbing. I felt like I was witnessing the most beautiful movie unfold; each moment of the Bauer wedding was more memorable and emotional than the last.

In the evening, when the sun went down, the Bauer dance floor rivaled any night club I’ve ever seen; Alexa put almost as much thought into curating a wedding playlist as she did choosing a wedding gown (or perhaps more), and BOY was the song lineup FIRE. Seeing her & Scott jump up and down between the swaying palm trees with all of their friends and family was a freakin’ sight to behold. I knew that Alexa was LIVING the EXACT vision of her wedding day she’d dreamt about for so long, and there’s nothing better than knowing everything turned out perfectly for someone you love so much. This day was such a treat—it just felt like watching one of my best friends get married AND getting to hang out with them ALL day through each joyful moment.

I could go on for 150 pages about how special this couple is to me, how grateful I am that my job brought someone like Alexa into my life, how my world is better because I know my Pidgy, and how happy I am that fate landed me at this beautiful pair’s wedding, but I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. :)

I love you, Bauers!!!
