Brandi & Derrick // Las Vegas Couple's Session Turned Proposal

When Brandi initially reached out about a 5 year anniversary session, she admitted she sorttttaaa suspected that Derrick might propose. This beautiful duo met on Bumble and immediately fell for one another, & 5 years of utter bliss led her to thinking that Derrick miGhT just use this session to pop the question.

I like to go into things with low expectations (so that I’m not disappointed, lol) SO when I met up with this couple on a gorgeous day at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, I told MYSELF it would probably just be an anniversary session—couldn’t get too stoked on any surprise events happening in case they didn’t!

WELL, two and a half seconds into our session, as “Hot Stuff’ by Donna Summer played on my *fun random shoot playlist*, Derrick told Brandi to turn around, dropped to one knee, and asked her to be his wife. She was actually quite shocked—(she said when the day arrived, she didn’t think he’d propose)—and she enthusiastically said YES!

What followed was the sweetest, most romantic & joyful couple’s session to celebrate their fresh-fresh-fresh engagement! Brandi has modeled for a good chunk of her life & is very comfy in front of the camera, so photographing her was a blast & allowed me to be creative in my direction & ideas! Derrick has NOT modeled for any chunk of his life, but is handsome as heck and a total trooper. As Brandi says, he’s a DREAM “Instagram Husband.” We have no choice but to be Derrick fans. He’s a gem!

I loved getting outta my SoCal bubble & shooting in some dramatic, GORGEOUS new scenery. We got so lucky with a fairly cool evening at this stunning park, and I had so much fun running *literally* around with these newly-engaged sweet peas.
