Charlotte & Gavin // Malibou Lake Island Engagement Session
Shot on film & digital - all photos above are film :’)
When Charlotte’s best friend, Jamie, met Gavin at a bar in Venice, she immediately knew that he needed to meet Charlotte. She set them up, and two hours into their first date, she got a text from Charlotte that said, “Think I might marry this guy.” The whole thing is wildly romantic and proves how unique and profound close female friendships can be. For your best friend to find your husband in a crowded bar… now THAT’S a fairytale.
Fast forward a few years: Gavin proposed to Charlotte on the quaint, quiet island in Malibou Lake, a place Charlotte spends a lot of time with her family and loves dearly. When we were planning their engagement photos, it felt only right to bring the moment full circle and head back to #LoveIsland to capture some cutie pix before they get married this May.
C & G are dear friends of mine, so I was so stoked to take photos of them and use my time with them to practice shooting film, which is something I have been SO excited about incorporating into my work this coming year. I can’t think of two subjects more beautiful, more chic, or more in LOVE to capture in any medium (& we had 3, lol). With Jamie on camcorder (I love a home video, okay?) and my film & digital cameras in tow, we laughed across the island, danced to DJ Jamie’s playlist, and watched the sun set behind the mountains before finishing up the roll of film back in the grass by Malibou Lake Lodge. Between the gorgeous sunlight and the strong breeze, Charlotte legitimately looked like an angel the entire time.
I love photographing anyone, but taking pictures for my friends is a special kind of heart-filling, magic fun. I am so excited to be a GUEST at this couple’s wedding in May & take up residency on their dance floor with unending enthusiasm.
Love u, cuties!!!
