Talia // Los Angeles Portrait Session
Working with Talia is my favorite. There, I said it.
This beauty queen is a style + space + sustainability blogger & influencer (you can find her here) and is so fun to photograph.
Don’t get me wrong—I love shooting couples, families, & portraits for camera-shy or camera-luke-warm (a phrase I just invented?) sweet humans, and enjoy providing direction and posing prompts to help people feel comfy. That being said—I get soooo stoked to, once in a while, take photos of a subject who knows how to pose without prompting, who is down to get creative, and who is open to letting me try new things. I rarely get the chance to mess around with new techniques & experiment with no pressure (because I want all my clients to have exactly the photos they’d expect from a shoot with me!) Without that expectation + pressure, shoots like this one are an opportunity for me to think outside the box, & it’s always a damn blast.
Enter Talia: a pal / influencer / model / angel / sweetheart / beaut who creates socially & environmentally conscious content for those who love fashion, food, clean makeup, home decor, and sustainability. I recently got some little prisms off of Amazon, and have been dying to experiment with them & see what kind of fun photos I could create using them to refract & reflect light. Talia was immediately on board for the #PrismExperiment & styled a few outfits for us to photograph.
We romped around her neighborhood block & listened to Harry Styles as T glowed in the sunset light.. and as local weirdos told us we should come play frisbee with them at the park. Later, my gal fully plopped in a floral shrub upon my request, no questions asked. The prisms created the coooolest rainbows and weird effects as I experimented with them in & out of the sun, and we were both excited to see all the different types of photos we could create. After we finished shooting, we made homemade pasta and ohMY it was the best meal I’ve had in a minute. All in all, this was the loveliest afternoon I’ve had in a while.
To say I’m obsessed with these images would be the understatement of the year. Thanks for the good time, Talia!!! Let’s do it again.. next week?
