Jamie & Connor // Cielo Farms Wedding
Jamie & Connor’s love story is fantastic, and involves some serous Cupid magic. I will re-share it from my blog of their engagement photos!!!
A few years ago, Jamie’s best friend Andi attended a wedding where Connor was also a guest. Andi caught Connor’s eye, and he did his best to get her attention and win her over throughout the wedding. Unfortunately (but VERY fortunately for the future of this tale,) Andi was NOT at all interested in Connor, and instead ended up talking to one of his friends throughout the night, effectively turning Connor down 200%.
As things unfolded, Andi thought of Jamie. In her mind, she knew SHE was not the right fit for Connor, but thought JAMIE just may be. She told Connor she wasn’t interested.. but that she felt her best friend could be his perfect match. She decided to set Connor & Jamie up on a date, and she planned to be there too—a blind double date extravaganza.
The day they met for the very first time, Jamie & Connor’s date lasted FROM NOON UNTIL NIGHT. It was a marathon double date with four parts: a brunch of mimosas and charcuterie at Connor's, mini golf in the afternoon, a brewery for dinner and drinks, and a movie in the evening. It was 4 first dates in one, and boyyy did it go well… for Jamie & Connor. Andi & her date didn’t end up meant to be… but that’s not what this story is about.
After their 329 hour first date, Jamie says she “100%” knew Connor was the one. Connor also pretty much knew Jamie was his gal. 3 days later, they went on a trip together, and the rest is history. Andi is a modern-day Cupid, and she eventually officiated Jamie & Connor’s wedding, completing a full-circle journey as their match maker!
I've known Jamie since we were kids at day camp, and we grew up in the same area. Our paths crossed once or twice as teenagers, and then we ended up at the same college.. and in the same sorority! Life just brought us back into each other’s lives again and again—we even got to be roommates abroad in Italy for a month. I love Jamie more than I love easter sour patch watermelon jellybeans… and that’s a sh*t ton of love. She is the most loyal friend, radiates a vibrant good energy, is quick to laugh at my / anyone’s stupid jokes, and lights up any room she enters with her insanely cute smile. When I met Connor, there was no doubt in my mind that he was perfect for my James. He is beyond kind, absolutely hilarious, and incredibly easy-going. They just make sense together.
Being a part of Jamie & Connor’s wedding was terrific in about 10,000 ways, but I will just cover a few here. They got married on the perfect spring day at one of the most beautiful venues on planet earth—Cielo Farms. They brought together the most HYPE (and ridiculously gorgeous) wedding party, and were surrounded by family and friends who arrived with unbridled enthusiasm to watch J & C say “I do.” They had a sweet and emotional ceremony officiated by the bride’s bff & matchmaker, which added a deeply personal element to their nuptials. While officiating, Andi was able to retell Jamie & Connor’s love story from her POV, and as she choked up about how happy she was for her best friend, there was not a dry eye in the crowd. After exchanging rings, Jamie & Connor shared their first kiss as husband and wife and danced back up the aisle with 1000 watt grins.
As some of the most thoughtful humans in town, Jamie and Connor made their wedding parties feel SO loved. In one of the most impressive gestures I’ve seen, Connor gifted each of his groomsmen (AND a half-dozen of his close friends) custom Jordan sneakers. His guys were completely stunned, jaws agape as they took in the gift Connor hand-selected for them based on their interests and preferences. Taking their dress shoes off faster than you could say “Kobe,” they were so stoked to rock their Jordies on the dance floor through the rest of the night.
After mingling at cocktail hour, taking some dreaaaammyy sunset portraits, eating a delicious dinner in the gorgeous mountain twilight, and listening to hilarious and tender toasts, Jamie and Connor established a permanent residency on the dance floor and partied their faces off with everyone they love. Jamie’s DREAM was to have a lit dance floor, and her dream came SO TRUE.. and then some. Guests chatted and drank under the stars, danced their hearts out, and had the time of their lives before eating late night French fries and chocolate milkshake shooters. Yes, I am having Jamie plan my wedding.
I couldn’t dream of a wedding more spectacular for a woman I love so much. Jamie & Connor’s day was simply perfect, and a stunning celebration of the love they share. There is no question in my heart that these two are meant to be in every way, and being a part of their day was legendary. I love the Burkes, and I CAN NOT and WILL NOT get over their fairytale wedding.
